This International Standard summarizes the external and some of the internal dimensions of series 1 containers. The dimensions of each type of container are defined in the appropriate part of ISO 1496, which is the authoritative document for internal container dimensions.

Container CSC Plate Every sea container must be certified as ‘seaworthy’ before it can be accepted by any carrier for shipment. There are specially accredited organizations that examine and certify containers against specific criteria as may be seen on the ‘CSC Plate’ shown here.
