Minimum aperture This is the smallest aperture that can be selected. A minimum aperture of f/22 is fine for most photography and the setting only really needs to be smaller to allow exposure at slow shutter speed s when using faster film in brighter conditions.
The specifications for a given lens typically include the maximum and minimum aperture sizes, for example, f /1.4- f /22. In this case, f /1.4 is the maximum aperture (the widest opening), and f /22 is the minimum aperture (the smallest opening). The maximum aperture opening tends to be of most interest and is always included when describing a lens.
The camera will know how far to move the aperture lever and it will not need the mechanical stop provided by the aperture ring. By default the aperture of a k lens is fully closed and on the camera it will be fully open. You still get manual control with or without using A as long as the camera is set to a mode where aperture can be chosen
I’m sure there’s an obvious answer to this problem. How do I move the lens-lock lever to unlock the aperture from f/22? I read on one (non-Flickr) site that the lock had to be on f/22 for the D40, but some of you seem to be creating splendid photos at other settings. However I can NOT get the lever to budge, and hope for some useful advice.
Understanding aperture and f numbers Aperture determens how much light is coming through the lens. Aperture is a ring inside the lens that vary in size depending on how much light you want to
Again, the depth of field at these lens settings is affected by the lens that you use. Wide Angle Lenses. For landscapes and architecture work, a wide angle lens used with small apertures is just about right. With a decent quality lens and a camera with a 1.3X crop factor or more, you should end up with some pretty sharp images with good DOF.
Understanding Aperture and Exposure: Part 1. by Lance Nicoll. July 29, 2015. you can actually see the aperture ring opening and closing as you turn the aperture ring on the outside of the lens
I have a Nikon D40 I just bought a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 Lens When I put it on 22 I can take pics but when I put it on 1.8, it gives me a message saying “Lock lens aperture ring at minimum aperture (largest f/ -number) and it wont let me take pics at 1.8, how can I make that message go away? Any help would greatly be appreciated.
