Further, the yield of IEDs was shown to be higher in 72 h of continuous EEG recording than in routine EEGs where it amounts to 46-50%, increasing by EEG repetition with an IED yield up to 92% in
This was a 2-hour recording. This was a video EEG recording. The recording was done due to episodes of questionable seizure activity. During the recording there were no observed seizures, either clinically or during the EEG. The EEG itself is characterized by slow, poorly organized background activity of 4 to 5 cycles per second.
For countries with limited access to continuous EEG , the current classification will leave many countries behind , and the optimal guidelines for management of neonatal seizures might not be achievable , further subclassifications might be useful and helpful. I thank the committee for the tremendous efforts and work. Best regards, Amira Masri , MD

1 EEG (Electroencephalogram) An EEG is a test that records the electrical activity of the brain. The test may be done to check for: • Seizures • Confusion or changes in behavior • Head injury or disease • Changes in level of unconsciousness Arrive on time for your test.
Finally, the cost of increasing EEG recording time is less than 50% greater than a 30-minute study. In conclusion, increasing recording time on routine EEG to nearly 60 minutes is a more cost-effective and convenient method of improving the diagnostic yield of an EEG compared to multiple routine EEGs or single prolonged ambulatory EEGs.
Although the majority (89%) of interictal EEG abnormalities can be identified within the first 20 minutes of a routine EEG, extending the -
