The Alinco DX-70 is a solid transceiver for what it is. I use it as a back-up and on holyday and plays that role it very well. Don’t expect miracles from this tiny transceiver. I tried all the mods, with mixed results. The NB mod everyone raves about, is not worth the trouble. As an engineer, I am used to handle surface mount components.

Thanks to a fellow ham, I now have the following mods available for the Alinco DX-70 HF rig. I’ll type them into an ascii format and post here. I did the mods last night and all seem to work well. Mods came from Alinco, and the following is what I have: Extended RX on HF (down to 30 Khz, Up to 35 Mhz)
Hi Luis, I have an Alinco DX-70 myself and I’ve used it on some digimodes like PSK31, RTTY, JT65, JT9 and so on. The radio does not have computer control, so you will always have to set the VFO manually. for the JT modes it’s just set once and forget, with PSK and RTTY during a contest you may want to explore the band a bit.
