.Abstract. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve displays the capacity of a marker or diagnostic test to discriminate between two groups of subjects, cases versus controls. We present a comprehensive suite of Stata commands for perform-ing ROC analysis. Nonparametric, semiparametric, and parametric estimators are calculated.
ROC curve under various simulated conditions. 2Methods 2.1 Algorithms for computing variance for the area under the ROC curve Although much of this information is found in the Stata manual, for completeness, we review in this section the three algorithms for computing the variance for the area under the ROC curve.
MedCalc provides the following capabilities for analyzing ROC curves. Most are found under the Statistics->ROC Curves menu: Enter data through manual input into an internal spreadsheet or import data through Excel, SPSS, or several other programs. Under “ROC analysis”, plot a single ROC curve (with optional confidence bounds).
The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is the plot that displays the full picture of trade-off between the sensitivity (true positive rate) and (1- specificity) (false positive rate) across a series of cut-off points. Area under the ROC curve is considered as an effective measure of inherent validity of a diagnostic test.
Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves are used to assess the accuracy of a diagnostic test. The technique is used when you have a criterion variable which will be used to make a yes or no decision based on the value of this variable. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) is a popular summary index of an ROC curve.
