.I would never leave a car parked in neutral, even on the flat (you cannot always tell there is a slope, and it helps to seal the habit if you do it always) and turning the wheels into the kerb is not always possible (there may not be a kerb). So leave it in reverse gear if the front is lower than the rear, and first gear if the front is uphill.

It sounds like leaving the car in gear is the way to go. Does this do anything to the gearbox/clutch/whatever? Like over a few years, will leaving the car always in 1st gear have any effect on the wear of parts or something?
