This tutorial contains three screencasts showing you how to set up sidechain routing in Logic 9, Cubase 5 and Reason 4. In these tutorials I use a kick drum to trigger the sidechain and use a piano loop for the processed sound but obviously you can apply this technique to any two sounds you wish.

Hi. I would like to use the logic’s compressor to sidechain a bass to my kick, that i can do, but i would like to make a breakdown where only the bass is on (still sidechained) but if i remove the kick there will of course be no sidechaining, and if i mute it the sidechaining still doesn’t work, and if i turn down the volume it doesn’t work.
This course is intended for new users and for users who are already familiar with Logic Pro X. There are many different tutorials on Logic Pro X on YouTube, but since this is a huge software and the possibilities are endless, I created this course so that you can easily understand how to create music with Logic.
3: Add an instance of a dynamics compressor/limiter (here it’s Dynamics III in Pro Tools) to the group buss. And in the side-chain key menu at the top left select the kick SC buss we created. 4: The side-chain is now routed to the compressor, but the compressor is still not listening to it.
