For example, go to Panasonic.co.uk and pop the TV model in the search box, the first thing you’ll see is the software update. This removes the glitches from earlier versions, job done. Second issue resolved is the buzzing noise. Turn off eco mode in the settings munu and magically the buzzing stops.

Not quite right. Panasonic has an app store that allows you to choose additional apps to install to the apps screen. Yes in general the Catch-up service get pre-loaded by Panasonic but to say you can’t add other apps is not right. The apps available are created by third parties and may be subscription based too. Power light comes on but no picture or sound.
