Savage/ Stevens 311 is a very good, very plain double barrel. They are great hunting guns, and very reliable. They are not pretty and graceful like more expensive double barrel guns, but they were one of the most common farm guns for a generation or more. It was great to read about the Stevens 311’s I recently inherited one from my father, though he had many guns (some more valuable than the 311) the old side by side was the only one I wanted, it was “Dad’s gun” the one he always carried when he taught me how to hunt and how to be a true sportsman.

I’d like to get to know my shotgun inside & out. So far ive established thats its made after 1968 since it has a cereal # on it, & that they stop making them in 1989. Printed on the left barrel is word for word: “Stevens model 311 series H 20ga 2 3/4″ & 3″ shells Savage Arms Westfield, MASS USA”.
