VHT Special 6 combo owners- couple of questions I’ve heard great things about this amp and almost all the youtube vids of it sound really good I haven’t heard one in person yet though. But from everything I’ve heard this amp can be improved with simple tube upgrades and possibly a speaker upgrade.

.Tube WAR on VHT Special 6 Ultra combo! Lets start with the STOCK shitty and brand-less tubes which consist of a 12ax7 x2 preamp and a 6V6GT. To my ears, the clean channel is quite ok. But lack of highs and very bassy. Turned the TONE knob full clockwise

I just picked up a VHT Special 6 Ultra Combo a few weeks ago. Got it used in mint condition on CL for $200! So far I am really digging it. The previous owner had already swapped out the stock 6v6 for a JJ. I’m still going to swap the stock 12ax7’s for something a little better
